Things change. It seems that now they change very fast. I’ve heard it said that you “Live or Die” by Google. There is a lot of truth to that.
When people are searching for business they will use a mapping product 44% of the time. Over 41% of the time, those searches result in an onsite visit.
Google is said to control 65% of search overall and 90% of the mobile device searches. Daily Google searches are about 3.5 Billion. In 2009 only 0.7% of searches were performed on Mobile Phones. In 2017 mobile accounts for 50.3%.
We now live in what Forrester Research has dubbed “The Age of
the Customer.” Consumers really don’t believe what advertisements tell them. Nearly 75% of shoppers trust online reviews as much or more than
recommendations from friends or family.
The new norm is that Consumer opinion now travels faster and further than ever before. Facebook, Google, Yelp, Manta, YP and numerous other Social media, search engines and online review sites together form the medium by which traditional “word of mouth” is broadcast globally, shared easily and never, ever forgotten.
Online customer reviews are arguably the greatest influence in
attracting and retaining customers for small and local businesses
today. According to the eBook “The Marketer’s Guide to Customer Reviews” by Jon Hall, 4 out of 5 consumers reverse their purchase decision based on negative online reviews. Reviews determine how people perceive a business, whether or not they would buy from it, even the business ranking in search engines. Over 90 percent of consumers say they trust word-of-mouth recommendations above all other forms of advertising.
If you have a business, a brand, or handle the marketing for a small or local business, you need to make a stand now.
